Abstract

The EU is one of the biggest export markets for Indonesian palm oil. Currently, the EU demanding on certified sustainable palm oil since the sustainability issue rose. In regard to the issue, currently Indonesian palm oil companies must comply with international standard of palm oil certification before entering the EU market. This international standard for palm oil certification is issued by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The purpose of this research is to know the impact of the EU demand on certified sustainable palm oil on RSPO supply chain members in Indonesia and to know whether obtaining RSPO certificate allow the supply chain members to fulfill CSPO criteria to enter the EU market. The research methods applied in this study are qualitative and quantitative analysis. The data is obtained through questionnaire, interview, and literature research. It can be concluded that obtaining RSPO certificate to fulfill CSPO criteria, RSPO palm oil supply chain members in Indonesia are able to enter the EU market.
