Abstract

This study aims to find the relationship between intellectual capital disclosure (ICD) including its three categories which are human capital (HCD), structural capital (SCD) and relational capital disclosures (RCD) towards the cost of equity capital (COEC). The research is based on IDX public companies that are categorized in Kompas 100 and spread in several industries. The period of study is from 2012 – 2014 with cross-sectional analysis between ICD, HCD, SCD, and RCD as independent variables and COEC as dependent variable. The collected data is processed using IBM SPSS software version 22. In examining the disclosure level, dichotomous approach (content analysis) is used on annual reports. And Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) is used to measure COEC. The findings reveal the existence of a negative and significant relationship of ICD, HCD and SCD towards COEC. Meanwhile, the relationship between RCD and the COEC is also negative but not significant. The results may assist the policy makers in Indonesia to consider the costs and benefits of ICD in annual reports. For firms‟ managers, the results show the benefits of increasing the ICD level to reduce their cost of equity.
