Abstract

PT. XYZ still relies on traditional academic aptitude test to recruit employees. This method is considered antiquated, and PT. XYZ is looking for a new way of recruiting employee. The solution to that problem is by determining competencies. Competencies will not only help PT. XYZ in recruiting new employees, but also a new way of assessing employees and directing employees’ career path. The end results of this thesis is a competency dictionary and competency profile matrix. As a pilot project, Quality Audit department is chosen. The competencies determined in this thesis is role competencies and functional/technical competencies. To determine competencies, the method used in this thesis is adapted from methodology developed by R. Palan (2003). After defined, the competencies is validated by Manager of HR department and Section Manager Passenger Car of QA department. PT. XYZ’s is satisfied with the result. It would be easier for them now to recruit, assess and directing employees’ career path. It is recommended for PT. XYZ to follow the guideline of this thesis to determine competencies for all departments in PT. XYZ.
