Abstract

Automatic seeding machine has inaccuracy that can only be seen after the plants are growing. The error can be detected automatically without harming the plant by using camera. It requires vision manipulation that able to adapt with the shape variation of plant. Therefore, the study of image processing for plant has to be specific. In this thesis, the work subject is focus on beet crops. The research purpose is to obtain the most accurate approach for detecting the center stem of plants. The system will be tested with beet plants as the inputs and the accuracy of the center stem location detection and the inter-plant spacing will be analyzed. The program is using Matlab. The Image Source integrated optic camera is used to take images of the plants. The reference used for result comparison is obtain from manual measurement by metric tape. Two different approaches are used in this thesis; skeleton and curvature. The number of experiments are required in filtering and converting the images to achieve the correct position.
