Abstract

The main purpose of the thesis project is to learn, design and construct two degree of freedom car simulator. The car simulator will be able to do pitch and roll movement which will be observed with Inertia Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor. The IMU sensor that will be used is MPU6050. The data reading from MPU6050 will be filtered by complementary filter as complementary filter gives faster response due to angle change. The actuators or the mover for tilting the chair will be DC wiper motor. The DC wiper motor is chosen because DC wiper motor has fast speed with enough torque to lift the car simulator chair with mass less than 100kg. For controlling the motor, potentiometer will be attached for the motor position sensor. The safety features that will be installed are emergency stop push button and safety belt. The safety belt will be added push button so the motor will only move then safety belt is fastened. The second one is the emergency stop push button that will turn off all the system when pushed.
