Abstract

Good Corporate governance is critical for a proper function in a bank. Because banks have an important role in economy as a middle party from savers, depositors, and creditors to support businesses and economic growth of a country. Corporate governance determines the allocation of authority and responsibilities by a bank’s board, senior management, including bank’s strategy and objectives with expectation that the bank will operate in a good manner with integrity and in compliance with applicable laws and regulation. Good corporate governance can make a company in a disadvantage position because, it is costly. Transparency one of the pillar in Good corporate governance can also make a company vulnerable to their competitors because they publicize their financial position, and strategy. This research use four pillars of good corporate governance and banks performance (CAMELS Matrix). The result of the research is good corporate governance have a significant impact towards bank performance.
