Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the impact of financial leverage on financial performance of agriculture industry in Indonesia in the year of 2014 – 2018. This research uses debt ratio, debt to equity ratio and interest coverage ratio as measures of financial leverage and this research will also be using profitability ratios such as return on assets (ROA) and net profit margin (NPM) as the measures of financial performances. This study will conduct a quantitative research based on the calculations of financial ratios that include in the financial leverage and financial performance. Based on purposive sampling method used there are 18 companies in the research samples listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and that the firms should have enough financial data related to financial leverage and financial performance to do the calculation. The collection method are secondary data because the research collects existing company data from IDX website or the related companies’ website. The financial data are collected from IDX website at (www.idx.com) or even directly from the related companies’ website. The results will show the effects of each variables by using 5% or 0.05 significant level to check if the relationship between the variables is significant or not significant. The results shows that both Debt Ratio and Debt to Equity Ratio has significant impact on both ROA and NPM.
