Abstract

There was an idea from food preparation industries to increase productivity and increase hygiene on products by implementing machines that capable of stacking and counting. This project is combining Arduino and industrial standard devices. On the process problems occurred on moving arm that moved by stepper motor and integration between Arduino system with industrial standard system. Communication is between 5 volt logic and 24 volt logic need to commutated to each other. Oscillation caused the machine to have error and stall at certain condition. Also missing pulses from encoder in high frequency when read with Arduino. Load inertia and movement pattern are suspected as the source of the movement problem. Reducing load inertia and change the movement pattern and apply new movement using constant acceleration and deacceleration to move the stepper motor, developed electrical board to accommodate communication between 5 volt logic and 24 logic, and adding electronic circuit to conditioning the encoder pulses as part of the solutions. The result is good accuracy on moving to target and very low oscillation on the moving arm by reducing load inertia.
