Abstract
"Mechanomyography (MMG) is a method of measuring muscle activity used as an alternative to electromyography. This study aimed to see the muscle activity of four different leg muscles in normal human subjects while wearing elastic leggings and doing the sit-to-stand (STS) movement. The sensors used were non-invasive piezoresistive sensors, namely: FlexiForce A401 and strain gauge. During calibration, the strain gauge was found to be unsuitable to measure strain of cloth due to the thickness of the adhesive tape used and low reproducibility. The strain gauge measurement had standard deviations of 19.19% and 165.89% for longitudinal and transversal orientation. The final measurement setup used four different FlexiForce sensors. The voltage measurement was stored using NI-ELVIS II and analyzed with NI-LabView software. 8 healthy subjects (4 male and 4 female) within the age group of 18-35 and body mass index between 18.50 to 24.99 participated in the research. Activation of the four leg muscles (right leg) during STS were measured using the setup.
