Abstract

Computed Tomography Scan or CT- Scan is a device in hospital that applied to examine the anatomy of human body through the image for diagnostic. CT- Scan is also used as an alternative way to detect abnormalities cell in human body such as cancer. However due to utilization of X-rays as CT-Scan’s source, organs that being examined are considered to be at risk of radiation effect. The purpose of this research is to measure radiation absorbed dose in order to meet the standard radiation protection for the patients. In this research, the object was the real patient and for the dose measurement, lithium fluoride (LiF) thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD-100) were placed on the surface of the head and abdomen area of the patient. Standard specification protocols for head and abdomen scanning was applied during the research. This research was also done by comparing the radiation dose between several positions of head and abdomen area also comparing the result with IAEA Safety Standards. It can be concluded that the results are still corresponding with the standard.
