Abstract
Indonesian is famous for its culture, traditions and customs, which is composed of 34 provinces and thousands of islands. One of the most famous Island in Indonesia is Bali, where there is a masterpiece of statue called Garuda Wisnu Kencana and built by an artist from Bali, Nyoman Nuarta. The purposes in this thesis are to know the possible future effect of Garuda Wisnu Kencana towards Balinese culture as a tourism destination. The research is descriptive. The methodology is qualitative by using observation and interviews as research techniques. Source of data was primary and secondary data. Since Garuda Wisnu Kencana being a famous tourism destination for local and foreigners, then no wonder the popularity of this statue continues to grow. Currently, the continuation of the construction of the statue was being worked on and will be completed by the end of 2016. The artist, cultural observer, employers and government, they really hope this sculpture will be able to give a good effect in the future as a tourism destination, for many people from all over the world.
