Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess the readiness of Indonesian journalists for implementation of the commitment to the free flow of skilled labour within the ASEAN economic community. The objectives of the study were to establish the various dimensions of competencies of Journalists, to examine the levels of competencies and readiness of Indonesian Journalists and to determine the relationship between competencies of Indonesian Journalists and their readiness towards the free flow of Skilled Labour within AEC. The researcher used closed ended self-administered questionnaires as a method of collecting data. The study was done on hundred respondents from Indonesian journalists. The findings of the study revealed that Knowledge competencies, Capabilities competencies, Relationship competencies, and Ethical competencies are factors that significantly determine competencies of Indonesian Journalists, except Analysis competencies. The results show that the levels of competencies and readiness of Indonesian Journalists is significantly high. Furthermore, competencies of Indonesian Journalists have a significant impact on their readiness towards the free flow of Skilled Labour within AEC.
