Abstract

Manpower in many industries is unchangeable, automated machine cannot be implemented for several reasons such as thoroughness, specific skill, or reachability maneuver. Ergonomics perspective for workers is important aspect while designing working environment and job task. Mostly, industries neglect these aspects. In this research, two industries have been observed to identify harmful postures for worker while conducting job task and provide supporting tools to eliminate these postures. Moreover, video recording is used to capture worker movement while conducting job task. Findings regarding harmful posture from both industries are analyzed using REBA and OWAS methodology to classify harmful category. This research also been carried out using Jack Simulation software to create human and evaluate karakuri mechanism in eliminating harmful posture. Result from ergonomics assessment is shown there are total of ten harmful postures from both industries. These results are used for designing karakuri mechanism as the solution. karakuri mechanisms are chosen for its capability to support green operation considering it utilizes physical phenomena. This research will produce library regarding harmful posture and karakuri mechanism to eliminate these posture.
