Abstract

DC/DC converters are widely used both in the commercial and industrial world. DC/DC converters are used to change the voltage level of DC voltage to be used in various applications. This project aims to create a DC/DC converter that can be controlled by a dsPIC evaluation board. The dsPIC evaluation board will provide the PWM needed by the switching DC/DC converter and the result measurements of the system are displayed on the onboard LCD. Some adjustments both in hardware and software are made to interface both devices. The DC/DC converter used in this project is the QUINT Buffer 24VDC/24VDC/40A from Phoenix Contact. The buffer module consists of a buck and boost converter connected in series, and both of them are controlled by separate drivers. The dsPIC will replace the drivers of both buck and boost converters. With proper adjustments, the system of this project can control another DC/DC converter.
