Abstract

The objective of this thesis project is to utilize brainwaves to control a robot, in this case, a six wheeled mobile robot is the object that is controlled using the brainwaves. The brainwave signal is taken from a device called “Neurosky MindWave Mobile”, which is a headset with EEG sensors. The headset sends serial data using Bluetooth to a Bluetooth module which is connected to an Arduino microcontroller board. The command to control the mobile robot is then processed by the Arduino microcontroller board. Arduino microcontroller board sends serial data to the mini PC, then the mini PC sends the data trough wireless connection by using Secure Shell (SSH) communication protocol to the user’s PC to be displayed. The robot is able to move forward with variable speed according to the attention level, rotate left, and rotate right.
