Abstract

One of important equipment that is needed to construct a building is a tower crane. It works as a tool for transporting heavy material vertically or horizontally. Tower crane has a characteristic that during the transfer process the swing angle is kept small until it is sent to it final destination safely. A mathematical modeling of tower crane, simulation of the characteristic of the tower crane, and analyzing the result of it need to be done to be able to achieve safe transfer process. After mathematical model is done a simulation is made using MATLAB Simulink and find the response of the system. Several tests also is done using different parameters such as: load mass, rope length and trolley position. In this thesis, the model considers all important part such as a motor and gear box to be able to get a realistic response.
