Abstract

Technology is growing at an unprecedented rate and is taking over a daily menial task that requires repeatable instructions and processes to replace or reduce human interference. This project started because of a long queue to return access card and retrieve student ID in the prominence office tower. This process of card exchanging is a loop of giving out temporary access cards to students or guests who deposit a student ID. Therefore, by combining automation, RDBMS, and optical character recognition, a robotic system of storing and giving out cards can be made hence reducing the time for students to take or return access cards. This thesis will involve producing a prototype to execute this process and to analyze whether a smart system can be used to cut-off human errors and increase reliability.
