Abstract

Swarm robot project is a project with purpose of creating group of 5 identical mobile robots, in form of automated guided vehicle that move using 2 DC motors and a servomotor for the steering system, which move in formation. This project is a group project. The group members are Aaron Richard Wijaya, who focuses on developing the intercommunication subsystem of the swarm robot, Elmore Eleazar Sinurat, who develops the formation strategy, and Glenn Vialli, who designs and develops the vision system of the swarm robot. This thesis focuses on designing and constructing a mobile robot that will be used in swarm robot system. The robot has to be compact and needs to have high maneuverability to be implemented in swarm robot system. The robot is controlled by ODROID U3 and U3 I/O Shield as the mini PC and microcontroller. The programming uses Firmata communication protocol. All system in the mobile robot is tested and will be evaluated to be later implemented on the swarm robot system.
