Abstract
This thesis aims to create a conversion kit prototype for a conventional manual transmission motorcycle. In this thesis, Honda Tiger 2004 is used. This prototype using a 4kW AC induction motor as the engine and original gearbox used as a transmission followed by sprocket and chain as the connecter between them to determine the efficiency and effectiveness in using gearbox alongside the electric motor and also to provide a prototype module for students’ future research regarding electric motorcycle. The prototype is powered by a 3kW battery pack followed by a Battery Management System to control the battery's state and output. The output of the battery enters to the AC motor controller before going to the motor. AC motor controller used to invert the power source from DC to AC, the AC power source is then forwarded to the AC electric motor. The power generated by the motor can be regulated by the gear ratio to produced various amounts of power depending on the terrain.
