Abstract

"The increase of population had led to an increase in the population of health care. X-rays are often used for diagnostic in the medical field. It is often used for medical check-up on the thoracic area to identify any illnesses, such as calcification or spotting of any other type of illnesses around the thoracic area. In this way, TLD chips were used to measure the radiation exposure to patients in order to identify the amount of radiation exposed during the examination in Mayapada Hospital in South of Jakarta. These data may be used as a reference to improve the radiation dosage, in order for the radiation dosage to be as low as possible and optimize an image as much as possible. The study was conducted using twelve (12) patients and had a satisfying result with the optimization of image while conducting on a low dosage of radiation. Therefore, the x-ray used at Mayapada Hospital has been justified and were compatible with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Badan Pengawas Tenaga Nuklir (BAPETEN) regulations. The result of the data was also compared with previous studies and came up with a satisfying result.
