Abstract

Over the past two decades, there have been changes cyclically in the banking industry. Due to technological enhancements, many banks are suffering of high competitiveness since the global financial crisis. Hence, some commercial banks have been conducting the diversification strategy as a way to compensate for reduced incomes. This paper is all about finding out whether stock market value bank’s revenue diversification in banks listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. This research is a descriptive study and a casual study using quantitative approach. The data are obtained from secondary sources. The financial statements of the sample companies are analyzed using software named Eviews. The results are relatively negative in impaction of revenue diversification towards stock market valuation. But one positive side that the relation of revenue diversification and stock market is depending on size. Thus, diversification only works well with large banks. As emerging country like Indonesia, banks should only focus on traditional activity; interest-based earning. Banks managers should more properly decide whether diversification strategy is capable or suitable for their banks or not.
