Abstract

The future of our world will depend on the young generations as they are the one who will shape the future. Technology is the key to achieving a better future. Mechatronics engineering is one of the studies that will assist them to build the future. The purpose of this thesis is to introduce mechatronics engineering to high school students with the intention of letting students experience about mechatronics and its scope of studies. Project based learning method is used to improve creativity and problem solving ability and maximize the students’ understanding of mechatronics. The main objective of this thesis is to develop and design project based learning of mechatronics extracurricular program in senior high school for someone who have learned about Arduino. There will be four projects focused in this thesis and also the complimentary practical modules for each project to guide the students. Each project will use Arduino as the microcontroller, different input like the use of infrared sensor or ultrasonic sensor and LEGO block as the mechanical structure. There will be no LEGO electrical components, all the projects will use normal electrical components. All the projects will be affordable as this is for high school students.
