Abstract

This research is a case study in a French leading electrical manufacturer as the biggest Engineer to Order (ETO) plant for Low Voltage and Medium Voltage products in Asia. The aim of this thesis is to improve the standard of current in-plant milk-run system in order to create a systematic and reliable analysis of system’s condition that will lead to improvement actions. Therefore, DMAIC improvement methodology is used in this research and performance test is conducted to test and evaluate new system performance in real life working environment. Through the result, the new in-plant system is proven to be advance in terms of cycle time and supply quantity stability, route, workload, job division, and material control. Moreover, standardization leads to measurable system and improvement actions suggested at the end of this thesis work, concerning the result of performance testing still shows gaps towards the ideal-state system.
