Abstract

Ostheoarthritis (OA) is a joint related disease that are usually suffered by elderly but it is not limited to people with old age, as it can also be suffered by middle aged people. OA disease can be suffered by anyone and any gender. This research aims to design a simulation device that can measure or monitored a knee angle of a person when they do the normal walking gait process. The device uses Arduino as its microcontroller and uses IMU sensors like accelerometer and gyroscope for the sensors. the output of this device will be the calculated angle degrees. The application in a future of this research is to be used in order to measure and determine the knee angle of the person by measuring and monitoring the gait pattern with the help of this device. After monitored the knee angle for every gait pattern, the normal gait pattern of a person can be determined, this technique can be used in order to detect the abnormalities in a person’s normal or usual gait. The main purpose of this research is to make a simulation of a person’s knee and measuring the knee angle. during this research the accuracy and the precision will also be tested with the help of Goniometer or protractor printed paper. For future purpose, early detection of Ostheoarthritis can be monitored by knowing if there are abnormalities in the normal or usual gait that they do every day.
