Abstract

Higher demand for travelling by airplane forces Indonesia to ensure flight safety in Indonesian airspace. This can be accomplished Communication Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) mandated by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). To reach CNS/ATM usage, the ICAO has introduced a concept for aeronautical communications called ATN. ATN (Aeronautical Telecommunication Network) is a communication infrastructure that manages digital data transfer between ground and airborne host computers. The ICAO specified the ISO 8073 COTP (Connection oriented Transport Protocol) as the transport layer of ATN. COTP is used to provide and end-to-end reliable data transfer service between transport service users on two ATN end systems. The objective of this thesis is to perform software testing using white box and black box method against functions in COTP which include to transmission, reception and connection management functions. Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that all of the function in COTP can be listed as simple procedure and COTP can compose the connection request TPDU correctly.
