Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is constructing and designing a mobile robot and a docking station for the mobile robot. Auto docking mobile robots are being developed for numerous applications where long-term capabilities would be beneficial. However, most mobile robots have onboard power supplies in the form of batteries that last for a finite amount of time, in which case the robot becomes reliant on human intervention for extended usage. To achieve true long-term autonomy, the robot must be selfsustaining in its environment. When the batteries of mobile robot are remaining low the goal of the mobile robot is to find and reach the docking station, and then start to recharge its own batteries. So the system is able to operate a long time period with minimum or without interference of operator.
