Abstract

The purpose of this research is to give a proposal of succession planning in PT. Schenker Petrolog Utama. PT. Schenker Petrolog Utama was selected as the sample for this research because the company was experiencing a gap in finding the successors that are not ready to fill open position. In addition the succession plan of the company is still lacking. The variables that are involved are recruitment, training and development, performance appraisal, motivation, and succession planning. For this research qualitative method is being used and uses Triangulation method for validity testing after interview has been done between employees. The result showed that the current condition uses, for internal recruitment they use job transfer for the employee to gain experience from other department, the lack of training programs for self-development, also performance management as a benchmark for finding successors, and the motivation of the employees are and the lack of a succession planning in the company. Based on the result it is recommended for the company to create a proper succession planning, input socialization into the performance management system, and develop more training program for self- development.
