Abstract

Cruise Ship is one of the famous and prestige vacation taken by most people. Cruise ship is type of the passenger ship which carries more people and it is designed for the fun and relaxing activities for its guest. As it is growing in its industry, cruise ship design has become more developed, and bigger, thus it will also increase the issues of safety and security of the cruise ship. The tragedy of the Costa Concordia in 2012, and Titanic in 1912 has driven the people’s attention of the danger and the risks of the cruise ship. There are many factors that push customers to take a cruise voyage, such as the desire to be served as king, the condition of being free from all of matters. However, those factors will not be happened if safety and security onboard are not considered important. Safety in cruise ship is related with risk, while security in cruise ship is talking about the degree of uncertainty. This research studies about how the safety of the cruise ship affects the customers to choose the cruise vacation and how the security of cruise ship also affects the customers to choose their vacation on cruise ship. The test that is conducted in this study is: validity, reliability, normality test, heteroscedasticity test and simple linear regression test. This study has resulted that safety gives an impact of the potential customers to choose their vacation on cruise as well as the security of the cruise ship
